Hey everybody,
Fitz and I have taken a little bit of a hiatus on posts and movie news in order to put together this little event of ours.
What we want is to have as many filmmakers and non-filmmakers alike, produce over the entire month of July, a short film about anything they can possibly dream up or have always wanted to see on screen. The festival is completely informal and more or less just an excuse to have a community of artists and dreamers come together to create new and original material in hopes that it will spawn some kind of creative movement, where we stop letting our ideas fall to the wayside, stop letting our jobs and social lives get in the way and make a reality of some of these dreams of ours.
Alright, enough with the idealistic platitudes…
The fest begins on July 1 to have the films presented during the latter days of August. Write, shoot, animate and edit a film with a concept of your choosing. Nothing is too sacred or too impossible! No medium or idea better than the next. HOwever you can swing it is absolutely the best way to see your film to completion.

Here’s a look at the now confirmed, official duds of Captain America himself, also with rendered likeness of Matty’s dreamboat, Chris Evans.
This looks pretty close to what I expected. I had a feeling they’d be pulling some influence from the Ultimates redesign, which, makes a lot of sense.
Now, if Joe Johnston doesn’t screw it up, this could be a lot of fun.

Movie Trailer of the Day: The first full-length trailer for Scott Pilgrim vs. the World — Edgar Wright’s live-action adaptation of Brian Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim comic book series.
The film, which stars Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Kieran Culkin, Johnny Simmons, Ellen Wong, Allison Pill and Mark Webber, and Anna Kendrick, opens wide August 13 (with the final book in series, Scott Pilgrim’s Finest Hour, expected out a few weeks prior).

Stop What You’re Doing And Watch The Hell Out Of This of the Day: Collider just premiered Joey Ansah’s highly-anticipated Street Fighter fan-film, Street Fighter: Legacy. Suffice it to say, clocking in at just over three minutes leaves much to be desired. As of right now, a longer cut isn’t expected, but Collider’s hope (and ours) is that, with enough attention and positive feedback, the production crew will be compelled to shoot an extended version.
In his letter to Collider, Ansah writes:
[T]he truth is we’d love to do more in the Street Fighter universe. I want to make a series/movie and I really want it to happen. But what will fast track the process is the fans getting behind it, making their voices heard, and championing me and my team doing this on the biggest scale. I have done the hard part and got it to this point. If you get behind my vision and demand more, we’ll try like hell to make it happen.
So if you like it, pass it on. It’s high time the Street Fighter franchise added “decent adaptation” to its stable.

This is pretty great. Not yet, quite what it could be, but, they did in three minutes what hollwood can’t do in two hours. twice?! Give them the fucking franchise. For better or worse.

Profumo Di Lumia Trailer:
Here is the official trailer for the film Profumo Di Lumia; a film written, shot, and directed by my good friend Joel Stangle over the course of an entire summer in Sicily. He’s used all non actors, available locations and a true independent spirit. This my friends, is what film is all about.
The film will screen in Denver on May 13th, at 7pm, at the Denver School of The Arts, for those of you who can (and should) make it. It will be screening in festivals around Europe and the States through the next year.
